So its that time of the year…. and its not Christmas yet.
Art Basel is in town where contemporary art meet the uber hip (and artsy) Miami scene. For my first day of Basel I went to the Wynwood Walls.
Lets see what tonight also brings.

I feel sadden by the loss of Bidó, growing up in the art circuit back in the Dominican Republic I got the chance to meet and talk to him. He was a great influence on my developing art. He shall be missed.
Santo Domingo.- The most famous Dominican painter Candido Bidó passed away Monday in the capital’s Cedimat medical center from coronary failure, after being hospitalized Sunday night .
Bidó, born in the central town Bonao in 1936, earned international fame with his paintings in Europe, the United States and the Middle East. His large number of exhibitions worldwide is unrivaled, and his works are among the most sought paintings by foreigner collectors scattered in the five continents.
The Dominican master has participated in an endless number of competitions, including First Prize in the 12th Biennial of the Fine Arts, for his work ‘Los amantes de la aldea’ (the lovers of the village).

I remember being a little girl and my mom having these amazing pieces of porcelain sculptures that we where not allowed to touch or get near by, they where Lladró’s and more than just some sculpture they where very precious collectibles. As a child and then growing up I thought that I would never want one, until now with the new Metropolis Collection with pieces that resemble buildings in a cityscape (think of big cities like NYC or Chicago).

I also always take pictures of things with sticks and lights… specially if yellow (or colorful for that matter)
